the cooler mornings are here; early this year. it is nice to not have the hot days of summer but it is sad the time has come to put our clothes back on. only the brave or foolish will continue to wear shorts and sandals. i'll still wear the sandals because i got me some hot feet and i like the cool air on my toes. it's good for yoga toes too, i'm learning. we hope to get some new birk shoes to keep the toes free. they are higher priced than the "made in china" shoes. we got to take care of our feet, right.
enjoy the new photographs below.

a holiday
a few photographs from a day called a holiday but not much of a celebration going on in the country. for those of us that work on labor day, the so called celebration is very low key.
we got together with some friends but by chance. there were no plans but that is always nice.
these guys below are some of the friends we saw that day.

requiring pledge of allegiance brings mixed response
the associated press
September 10, 2006
raleigh, n.c. -- a shortage of flags, questions about patriotism, and confusion among teachers have greeted a new state law requiring public school students to recite the pledge of allegiance in the classroom.
some teachers said they were unprepared for the requirement and not sure what directions to give students. for many, the biggest issue has been a shortage of flags.
"we've been pledging to the flag even without the flags," said tom humble, principal of raleigh charter high School, which started classes on aug. 16.
some teachers at the school put up pictures of the flag, and at least one downloaded an image onto his computer, he said. the school ordered flags and hardware, at a cost of $623, for each of the school's 30 classrooms.

farmers market booty
tomatoes sweet and tart
riches shared
how i love them on toasted pita
whole wheat and crunchy
with mayo, kroger's lite
that was most of my dinner tonight

midnight
crickets chirp slowly
cool air falls from crescent moon sky
old dog barks why?
ceiling fan stirs paper on desk
the orchid nods and sways like a cobra
from its basket nest
