evening primrose

the evening primrose this year grew over six feet tall. there were many blooms every evening. i enjoyed the hint of pepper in the fragrant flowers. unfortunately, the japanese beetles were chomping the plants and needed to be pulled off daily; hundreds of them.

these are fascinating; they way they live and camouflage themselves. it is nice they live in our garden too. i just wish they ate mosquitoes.

buddha with hair

a buddha statue in the yard got some hair this year. the hair is from theodore's haircut to take off some painful mats (kitty dreadlocks) he had grown. buddha's hair evolved over time and eventually moved on to some bird's nest.

one friend commented the hair was grotesque. i do not think it is grotesque at all. what do you think?

mongo red wagon

how many wagons can one adult kid have? is four too many? wagons are great for gardening and just hauling stuff around in your own worldly way. too bad the new ones sold are just plastic, eek.

this one here is a little rusty but still works great.

the cracked earth

summer 2006 has been a dry, dry season. there was a lot of rain earlier during spring. many plants were established but now the skies have dried in our neck of the woods. it is so dry, the earth is cracking.

the flat river impoundment

It was a hundred degrees and we were the only ones on the river and the impoundment.
Call us crazy but it was fun and we had lots of water.

a change has come

a change has come. our website has now changed to a blog.

it was fun to maintain the server, write the code, take the photographs and post them. but now it is so much easier to use the plethora of web tools. so we are shutting down the home server and giving mom a pc upgrade.
